New Alamein (Arabic: العلمين الجديدة) is a burgeoning city in northwest Egypt, inaugurated by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on March 1, 2018. Located on the Mediterranean Sea, about 85 km west of Borg El Arab International Airport, New Alamein is still under construction. The Egyptian government envisions it as a hub for tourism, education, and administration. The city boasts its own presidential palace and ministry building. Ongoing construction projects include three universities, fifteen skyscrapers and high-rise towers, and 10,000 hotel rooms. Phase II of the New Alamein megaproject has also commenced, featuring ten additional coastal towers.
