The Intersection of Ismailia Tunnel 3 and 4
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated the Ismailia city tunnels, which connect the Delta to Sinai. These two car tunnels, constructed under the old and new Suez Canals, were built to promote sustainable development, ease the movement of citizens between Sinai and the Nile Valley, and reduce their travel burden. Over three and a half years, Egyptian engineers and workers achieved a significant milestone in the country’s modern history by digging these tunnels, an effort comparable to the Egyptian Armed Forces’ victorious crossing of the Suez Canal in the October 1973 War.
Under the slogan “Tahya Misr” (Long Live Egypt), more than 3,000 engineers, technicians, and workers dedicated themselves to this project, working tirelessly day and night. The Armed Forces Engineering Authority supervised the construction in collaboration with Egyptian national companies. “Petrojet” handled the southern tunnel’s construction, while “Concord” managed the northern tunnel, with a workforce of over 3,000 consultants, engineers, technicians, and workers.
